Located in San Francisco’s Dogpatch neighborhood, the Pier 70 project seeks to revitalize the industrial waterfront. The Parcel A office building captures the awe-inspiring shipyard scale of San Francisco’s historic industrial waterfront, while creating a workplace environment that is humane and human-scaled from the inside out. The concept for the lobby interior looks to the site, the natural landscape and the neighborhood culture for inspiration.

The Path You Choose Chooses Where to Take You

Streets are the nervous system of a city, the conduits of movement and communication. Streets define our daily experiences, drawing us in, while creating moments of intrigue and surprise. A healthy grid of streets diverts us with unexpected detours. The lobby at Parcel A will be an extension of that healthy grid, a continuation of journeys begun outside and an outstretched hand to a host of destinations.

Convergent Nature

The weave of interactions that is constantly in motion in a busy urban lobby forms a multi-layered entity that becomes a living organism. Ideally it’s the convergence of elements in which each day’s activities create over time the patina of a culture. The authenticity of this place derives from its daily rhythms, its local characters and its spirit of interdependence. The lobby at Parcel A will open a new chapter in the story of its community and in the personal stories of all who pass through.

People Make Place

An inviting lobby is the concourse of a busy transport terminal—a focal point for both arrivals and departures. It communicates the expansive embrace of a public realm, while offering unlimited opportunities for private interactions, moments of rest and respite, serendipitous delights. A lobby with a distinct and palpable character sends a subliminal message to all who linger there: You’re in the right place.
